Translation of selected dispatches of the French consuls assigned to the Philippines during the Philippine Revolution. They span the period 1896-1901. They provide a first hand account of the dynamics prevailing then among the Filipinos (referred to as insurgents in the dispatches), The Spanish (who were preparing to leave the colony) and the Americans (who were preparing to administer as a colony). They reveal the obsession of the Filipinos for independence no matter how elusive it was at that moment.
