SIR - Student Inquiry and Research: Off-Campus Authentication

IRC & Google Scholar

You may have noticed that when you search Google Scholar at IMSA, you can link to articles in the IRC's databases, which will provide you with many full-text articles (not just the citation or a link to buy the article!). That is because Google Scholar knows from your IP address that you are at IMSA & you have access to IRC databases.

If you are at home, you will need to tell Google Scholar that you have access to IRC databases.

Connect Google Scholar with the IRC's databases

So, if you are off-campus, before searching Google Scholar, it is a good idea to set your preferences to connect Google Scholar with IMSA IRC's database subscriptions.

You can change your settings by clicking "Setting" (the gear icon Gear Icon ) near the top of the Google Scholar search page.

Now articles in Google Scholar will link to articles that are available full-text in the IRC databases.

You will still be prompted to log in to those with your IMSA login and password.

Look for articles with the "Full-Text @ IRC" link.

Click on it, and you will be taken to the article (after loging in with your IMSA ID and password).
