Support & Engagement Workshop: Beyond Google in Academic Research: Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan

What is Interlibrary Loan?

  • If IMSA's IRC doesn't own a book (or we have the ebook & you want a print book) we can borrow it from a library that does own it

Why would I want to do this?

  • The libraries at the University of Illinois & others contain a great wealth & depth of information that you may not find elsewhere. This can be invaluable if you are doing an independent study or SIR. It can also help you with more obscure/specialized topics that our library doesn't have as much on.

Do other students use Interlibrary Loan?

  • Yes! We get several hundreds of books from other libraries each school year.

Is it hard to do?

  • No! The easiest way to order an Interlibrary Loan is on our catalog.
  • Step One: Sign-In upper right corner
  • Step Two: Search in I-Share
  • Step 3: Request from an I-Share Library
  • Step 4: Send
